Paraguay is at the top of the South America qualifying campaign for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. In fact, they are four (4) points ahead of their competitors – Brazil, Argentina, and Chile.
This is a HUGE deal for Paraguay!! Not only because football (soccer, for those Americans reading this) is a beloved sport in Paraguay, but because of national honor. This is one of the few ways this nation can break out of it’s poverty and show the world that they are alive and kicking.
There are still a few more qualifying games to be played before the World Cup. My vote is for Paraguay to qualify and then… well, then to go on and play like wild men in South Africa.
